Morning Circus Act....

Through my pregnancy with Bercan I acquired insomnia. Not the normal morning sickness or adversions to this or that....insomnia. And it stayed with me unlike the other side affects of pregnancy that usually stop once you are not pregnant any more. This has resulted in me wearing ear plugs to bed at night to help tune everything else out. Well I woke up this morning at 4am thinking that I heard one of the boys. Took one ear plug out to confirm that it was definitely the boys up to something. Both of their lights were on and they were inVaughns' room playing. Seriously they were wide awake playing as nice as could be...at 4AM. When asked who woke who up. Torin said he woke up and was bored so woke Vaughn to see if he wanted to play and he did want to play. They were told to go back to bed, that this was not play time. Vaughn was not happy with this decision so Bjorn went into his bed to help calm him down. Finally back to sleep I am awaken to Torin in my face saying that he was scared of the thunder. "Climb in to Daddy's side" made sense to me as Bjorn was in Vaughn's room. Later in the morning Bjorn brings Bercan into me...which we fall asleep while nursing. Bjorn later shows up in bed for Torin to tell him "Umm...I think that I peed on your side Dad...sorry about that." This is all before 7am....this is life with kids :)

Who to marry...

The other day Vaughn and I were driving to the post office and he told me for his birthday he wants a dog. I told him that when he gets older and is married that he can have a dog in his own house. He replied quickly "But Mama I want to marry you"...he had such a sad tone in his voice. I told him that I couldn't marry him because then Daddy would be so sad. In the silence I could tell that he was thinking through what the next plan should be to work this out. He then said to me "I'll marry that sassy girl Bella!" This is Torin's "girlfriend"...I'm not even sure Bella knows it but Vaughn is right that she is sassy. I said well that probably won't work because I think Torin is hoping to marry Bella. Torin will tell you that he is going to marry Bella. Don't try and argue it with him, it's a done deal in his 6 year old mind. Vaughn then becomes silent again trying to see just how he can acquire this dog of his. He asks me "Is Siobain and Dave married?" I tell him that yes they are married. He gets the biggest smile and says "Then I marry Amelia. She has a dog Diesel and so she know how to care for dogs. We have two dogs one Diesel and the other Tuk. You know Mom, like Cassie and Jason's dog Tuk." So there it is people this is how Vaughn is going to get a dog....

Scared of the Dark....

Vaughn has started getting afraid of the dark over the past few months. I'm not really sure what all of a sudden inspired this fear but it is there none the less. Angie, our nanny, told this story to us this morning and thought it was so sweet that I had to post it.

When Bjorn is not at home working the basement is a hockey arena. The boys love it and it's a great way for them to exert all of the energy that they have. So yesterday as Bjorn was out on appointments he and Angie decided to go down and play. As they were walking down the steps Vaughn said to Angie, "Now, Angie it really dark down here but don't be cared. It's okay betause God id wif us. He wif us so don't be afraid."

Angie said that it just warmed her heart and honestly it does mine as well. I love that at this age he has that much trust in God and knows that He is always with him.

Bercan's Florida Past Times

Berc was a great traveler but he was not a great sleeper in Florida. He just knew that he wasn't in his own environment and the spitting up was a record high. I honestly think that he spit up as much as he ate or pretty darn close. He LOVED being in the pool and playing at the beach. We went for a few morning strolls and just was happy as could be. He was great at going to the different places that he was dragged to and for the most part was content. Except for when we were at the house this little man was a BIG time Mama's boy. If I was in sight really no one else would do. I should look at this as endearing but it got a little annoying after awhile. One of the funny stories was when Auntie Cole gave Berc a taste of ice cream. He wasn't really sure about it at first, his face going from sad to concentrating to sad, to finally an all out full face cry. We of course just all laughed at him as it was really cute. He really did have some cute pictures though as you can see below....

Daddy and Berc one of the many times at the beach. As
you can he is a happy boy.
Drool and sand don't really go well together but that
didn't stop him from having a good time at Siesta Beach.
Kids 6 and under had to wear life jackets. This was the
smallest one the guide had. His checks were so smushed
but he didn't complain one bit. The guide said he was the
youngest baby he had on his boat and one of the best.
A little pic at Anna Maria Island beach.
Having fun with Nana at the pool.
Berc showing just a tiny spit up, the rest were about
5 times the amount of this one that I happened to capture.

Florida Memories Part 1

Well there are just so many memories and stories that I want to capture from our trip that I am going to have to do them in chunks. The boys had a great time and really we did too. It was great to get out of our daily routines and just be together. To focus on one another, spend the time that we don't get to on a daily basis. The boys were for the most part excellent of course there were the few occasional bumps in the road but that's life after all, right :) Torin had a blast being with his cousin Cooper playing in the pool, at the beach, playing video games and just being a kid. I wish that I could say the same for Vaughn, not that he didn't have a good time but that he was constantly wanting to be with the big boys and them not really wanting him to be around. It's funny to think that in not so many years he's most likely going to be "bigger" than the big boys. He probably only has an inch on his cousin Cooper who's a 1 1/2 years older than Vaughn and Vaughn is only 8 pounds lighter than his brother who is 3 years older. It will be interesting to see how they avoid him in the future :) Vaughn did like playing with his little cousin Alaina. The game of "house" was the choosen one for them to play. A simple game of one being Mom and the other being Dad. Conversations went something like this "Mom, I'm going to go get my hair cut." "Okay Dad, do you want me to come with?" "Sure Mom." I look at this and wish that I could be amused by such simple things in life. The two of them really were too cute.

Another story was when Torin wrote "I love you Vaughn" in the sand. Of course Vaughn recognized his name and when Torin told him what it said he looked Torin in the eyes and gave him the response of "I love you booger". Seriously, is this my life with boys. They are really just too silly and funny at times. Torin was obviously looking for something a little more meaningful than Vaughn's response and rolled his eyes, looked at me and said "He's crazy Mom." I had to agree that Vaughn is just a little crazy but in a good way.

Even though Torin was about ignoring his brother once we met up with the rest of the Larson family he was really sweet to him on the way home from our trip. It had been a LONG day of waiting in the airport as our flight was cancelled and we literally didn't know if we were going to make it home. We ended up waiting for about 6 hours before we got onto an airplane to start the 6 hour trip back home. Once we got into MN, Vaughn was spent. We got our baggage to head out to be picked up and Vaughn just started to melt down. Literally, sitting and crying that he couldn't lift his baggage. I told him sorry that Mom and Dad could not help as we had all the other bags and the baby. Torin said "It's okay Vaughn, give me your bag I'll take it for you." And he did, Torin was obviously just as tired as the rest of us from the long day but found the energy and compassion for his brother. Picked up the bag and wheeled it out for him to the curb. It's the little things like this that made any bump in the road worth going over.

More to come and pictures too...
