Best of camping trip is peeing on trees...

We headed out to South Dakota this past weekend to experience the black hills with the boys and our friends Dave, Siobain and Amelia. Well being boys and being out in the woods peeing on trees was probably one of the highlights of the trip. Some cute stories came out of it so I hope you enjoy.

The last morning we were all waking up a little slow, Bjorn and I probably a little more than the boys. When of course Vaughn had to go potty. We sent him out to pee on a tree, as we called it that weekend, only for Torin to suddenly have to go as well. I think it's funny they always say that girls have to pee in pairs I think that goes as well for young boys too. Both were sent out and within minutes we hear the giggling which with those two means they are up to no good. I look out of the tent only to find two naked butt's with Vaughn pending over trying to aim the stream of pee backwards through his legs. That was of course the highlight of their day!!! In case you are wondering, it doesn't work he ended up peeing all over his pants.

Probably the second day there and only 3 times of peeing on a tree Vaughn said that he had to go to the bathroom. We had all just sat down to eat so I gave him permission to pee on the tree. He goes to the tree and starts to get into a squatting position. When I saw this I quickly asked him what he was doing only for him to respond that he had to poop. I jumped up and quickly pulled the pants up to tell him that we only pee on trees not poop. It was a close call and one that could have gone south too quick.

Oh little boys and peeing outside....the joys of being a mother of 2 and one on the way ;) I'll post some pictures of the trip sometime soon...

Vaughn's Observation of Papa

At dinner with Nana and Papa with the other night we were retelling the story of Vaughn telling Bjorn that he had white hair. Nana started to ask him about Torin's and her hair color. When she asked him what color Papa's hair was Vaughn looked at Papa's hair and his eye's popped and his chin hit the floor. He blurted out in an amazement "WHITE" in a very long drawn out breath. It was as though he had never seen the color of Papa's hair before. The surprise and astonishment in his facial expressions were priceless. Papa was a good sport of course as he laughed with the rest of us.

It's a BOY!!!

Well we had our ultrasound the other day and found out that we are having yet another boy. I really just think that God wants me to raise His boys :) We are excited and after taking a black eye from Torin's frisbee launch I think that I might want to invest in a helmet for the addition of more testosterone. The thought of another son to raise, another boy who will hopefully fall into his brother's footsteps in calling me his' princess and beautiful Mommy is delightful. The thought of never having a daughter is a little sad but I know that this is what I am meant to have and for that we feel very, very blessed. I love my boys more than anything, yes Bjorn too, and we are all excited to welcome one more to our family.

Torin came with us to our ultrasound. We actually snuck him in as no kids under the age of 6 are supposed to be in the ultrasound room. When we were driving home we asked what he thought about having another brother and he said "That means that Nana is going to have 4 grandsons." I asked him what he thought Nana would think of that which he replied "We are going to be maniac's." Only a five year old can come up with that line. I asked him if he was sad that it wasn't a girl and he said, "Mom, I'm going to love the baby no matter what."

That night both of the boys kissed my belly saying goodnight to the baby and went on and on about how much they love him, how they couldn't wait to kiss, hug, wrestle with him and can't wait to meet him. They may be boys, crazy and energetic, rough and dirty, bug loving and adventure seeking but they both have a sensitive side that literally melts my heart. I wouldn't change it for anything in the world :)

2 year old applying his colors

For Mother's Day Torin filled out a survey about me, what color hair I had, what he liked best about Mom, etc. I was reading the answers in front of the boys and at the end of it Vaughn looked at Bjorn and said "Mommy have black hair and Daddy you have white hair." All with a gleaming smile being so proud that he knew his colors. We all of course started to laugh. It's a good thing that Bjorn has such a good sense of humor as I think that he bursted out laughing the hardest :) Have to love those 2 year olds!!!

Don't work so hard...

This morning I was greeted by Torin deciding how much money he should give me. I told him that I thought it was very nice that he wanted to share his money with me but that people that loved him gave him that money and he didn't need to give it to me. His response was, "Well Mom I just love you so much that I want to give you my money so that you don't have to work so hard." Obviously now thinking that he is the greatest kid EVER he began to count out his money. He gave me 4 bills and said it was $4 dollars. I told him that he had actually given me two $5 bills and two $1 bills. So really he had give me $12. With that he asked for the money back because he had to recount. After a very serious recounting of the money I was given $5 of 5 $1 bills. He asked me how many cents it was that he gave me. We went through that if there are 100 cents per dollar that there would 500 cents in $5. With that I was told the following, "Okay Mom, you go to work today and you tell your boss that your son who is 5 almost 6 and going into first grade gave you 500 cents and that now you don't have to work so hard." Seriously I wish it were that easy....it was a great way to start off the morning!!!
